Modern Apprenticeships

Applying for a Modern Apprenticeship in the oil & gas industry will give your pupils the opportunity to work towards a recognised industry qualification.

Aimed at 16 year old pupils or above, an oil & gas modern apprenticeship involves paid, fulltime employment at an oil & gas company and on-the-job training, where pupils will receive invaluable practical experience and work towards a recognised industry qualification.

A number of apprenticeship schemes have a period of ‘classroom’ time, which normally takes place at a local college. After this, pupils will work for an oil & gas company, gaining practical experience which could involve trips offshore.

Modern apprenticeships are extremely competitive and the application process is comprehensive. For example, applicants may be asked to complete an ‘aptitude test’ – examples of these can be found online to help your pupils prepare.
